How to earn

Global Services, 1K, Premier Executive and Premier members will have an upgrade automatically requested on their behalf on all eligible itineraries—simply for being an elite member. There is no need to earn or track upgrade certificates In 2010: 1K members earn two Regional Upgrades when they fly 10,000 miles on United or United Express in a quarter (up to eight per year).

In 2011: Elite members who earn 75,000 EQM or 90 EQS will get two Regional Upgrades and two more at every 25,000 EQM/30 EQS flown after that in the same calendar year - with no limit to how many can be earned. For 1K members, these upgrades are in addition to the ones earned quarterly.
1K members receive six Systemwide Upgrades per elite qualifying year as part of the 1K benefits package.

Use redeemable miles, available for all MileagePlus® members.
